A residential solar+battery storage program advancing clean energy will be offered by the West Hartford Public Library on May 1.

PowerSmart is a community-based clean energy campaign that is active in selected towns throughout Connecticut, and being coordinated by SmartPower, the nation’s leading non-profit marketing firm focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy.
PowerSmart is now available to West Hartford residents. It is part of a more general “Energy Storage Solutions” program that encourages ratepayers to participate in the transition to renewable energy by co-adopting solar and state-of-the-art home battery systems. Program participants who get battery back-up systems for their homes can take advantage of special financial incentives that are available from the CT Green Bank and Eversource. Also, the Federal government is offering a 30% income tax credit for these clean energy installations, including battery back-up systems.
The details of the Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) program – its various environmental, public health and economic benefits – will be covered in a 60-minute presentation introduced by the Sustainable West Hartford Commission. SmartPower VP Bob Wall will then review the 2024 aspects of this multi-year initiative, and explain how home battery storage systems can provide quiet, clean reliable power at night, and especially when the grid goes down. Energy storage solutions can also support the grid during peak demand, facilitating better resource planning and load response.

Bob Wall is the Vice President of Solarize and PowerSmart programs for SmartPower, the nation’s leading non-profit marketing firm focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy. Previously, he worked for other non-profits and quasi-governmental agencies where he managed nationally recognized community-based clean energy initiatives. In addition, Bob has served on various boards and committees including the Connecticut Green Building Council, Greater Bridgeport Community Enterprises and Sustainable Fairfield Task Force, of which he is the current chair. Bob received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University and a Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law.
