Yaysh is more than just a community group – its a movement designed to bring people together.

Created by moms, for moms, Yaysh is dedicated to supporting Jewish mothers in raising their children within a nurturing, culturally rich environment. What began as a grassroots effort has blossomed into a vibrant space where Jewish tradition and family connections flourish.

At the core of Yaysh is our transformative Israel trip, in partnership with the international organization Momentum Unlimited. Moms who may not know each other at the start get to spend eight unforgettable days in Israel together. This trip is far more than just a single experience. Its part of a broader journey that begins with three pre-trip meetings and continues with our Year of Growth” program afterward, helping moms build meaningful, lasting connections.

However, like many organizations, weve been impacted by the current unrest in the Middle East. Unfortunately, our Israel trips are on hold until the situation stabilizes. This pause is difficult, as the trip is central to our movements mission. But Yaysh is about resilience and adaptation, and we remain hopeful, looking forward to resuming these transformative journeys when its safe to do so.

In the meantime, Yaysh continues to thrive locally. We are entirely volunteer-led and focused on igniting Jewish engagement, both for the moms who are already part of our movement and for those weve yet to meet. Our mission is to find and engage with women raising Jewish families who may not yet be connected to a formal community or Jewish families that want to add more Jewish elements to daily life – whether through friendships, holidays, or learning together.

We have created a year of unique programming.  Our events are held in West Hartford, but they are open to women of the Greater Hartford community.

We will celebrate the holiday of Sukkot with a Lulov and Etrog sale and trip to NYC on Oct. 13.  More information about our Lulav & Etrog sale for Sukkot (includes local delivery) can be found on our Givebutter page.

The inspiring Project Shema will return to West Hartford in November for a two part educational series. “Project Shema is a training and support organization focused on addressing contemporary antisemitism with an emphasis on how anti-Jewish ideas and implicit biases can be carried alongside conversations about Israel. Now more than ever it is important to bring women together and to empower them with the tools and understanding needed to navigate difficult conversations about antisemitism.

At the end of November we are partnering with the Sisterhood at The Emanuel for a ladies night out. It will be an evening of connection and community with the opportunity to create a beautiful piece of Gary Rosenthal Judiaca just in time for Hanukkah.  2025 events include a book discussion, a holiday cooking demonstration, and day trip to Touro Synagogue in Newport, RI.
