Several people were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries following a crash on South Main Street in West Hartford around 3 p.m. Friday that resulted in a rollover of an armored vehicle.
South Main Street was closed for roughly two hours between Ledgewood Road and Crestwood Road.
According to West Hartford Police Lt. Eric Rocheleau, the incident occurred when the driver of a 2001 Toyota Camry headed north on South Main Street collided with the rear of a tractor trailer moving truck that was parked and unoccupied on the side of the road in front of 262 South Main St.
After hitting the moving truck, the Toyota crossed into the southbound lanes and collided with an armored truck that was traveling south, police said.
The driver of the armored truck made an evasive maneuver in an attempt to avoid the collision, police said, and as it began to roll over it collided with a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse that was headed northbound on South Main Street.
Police did not identify the number of people involved in the crash, but noted that several occupants were injured. The West Hartford Fire Department and American Medical Response also assisted at the scene.
The vehicles involved in the crash, other than the tractor trailer, sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, a 24-year-old New Britain woman, was issued a misdemeanor summons for operating with a suspended license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to drive right.
