Ballet Theatre Company, West Hartford’s premier ballet company, is getting back to the barre offering July online classes and limited in-studio classes. Online classes will be offered through Zoom Monday thru Thursday from July 6-30 for all levels including adults. Selected levels will also have the opportunity to train at BTC’s facility in a limited fashion. BTC is continuing to welcome new students for its summer virtual programs. New students can register online and follow instructions on how to determine level placement.

Widely regarded as the standard for classical ballet training throughout the Greater Hartford area, Ballet Theatre Company will be offering students an opportunity to improve their technical skills and artistry through a premiere ballet intensive experience this July. Students who participate for the full four-week program can achieve marked improvement in strength, flexibility and technical ability.

Online Zoom classes are divided into four divisions: Children’s Division, Student Division, Open Student Division, and Adult Division. The Children’s Division offers once a week classes for young dancers ages 3-9 in the mornings and/or evenings, the Student Division is further broken down into Divisions A-C dependent upon level placement and offers a daily curriculum that will consist of ballet technique, pointe/pointe strengthening/pre-pointe, and supplemental classes in either jazz, contemporary, or modern. Dancers in these divisions may enjoy morning-only Zoom offerings with no obligation or expectation they attend in-studio classes in the afternoons/evenings. Dancers who are placed in Student Division C will be given a piece of sprung marley flooring to be able to participate fully in online pointe classes. The Open Student Division offers mixed level Ballet and two levels of Hip-Hop classes per week in the afternoon/evenings. BTC’s Adult Division offers two levels of Adult Ballet classes in the evenings. BTC is thrilled to continue to welcome new students for its summer virtual programs.

A select number of students in Student Divisions B and C who are ready to resume in-studio work will be welcomed to train with a combination of morning Zoom classes along with studio classes one or two afternoons/evenings per week. Dancers who wish to train in-studio must strictly adhere to studio health and safety protocols. Upon registration, dancers and parents will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire and sign a waiver of liability. There is currently no in-studio only option for training at this time. For more information and to view division breakdowns, schedules, class rates, and registration, visit BTC’s July Classes website page, or please feel free to contact BTC’s School Administrator at [email protected].

BTC is supported in part by the Greater Hartford Arts Council, the State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development Office of the Arts, Cricket Press, and Hearst Connecticut Media Group.
