Clara’s journey through the “Land of the Sweets” is much more fun when there are games, crafts, food, and prizes to enjoy along the way. Play crowd favorite carnival games but with a Nutcracker twist that turns a regular game of bean bag toss into Arabian Coffee Bean Bag Toss, or take good aim at a game of balloon darts that has been transformed into Sugar Plum’s Pop. Each game station will include multiple opportunities to win tokens which can then be exchanged for some fantastic prizes to take home!

Some other fun souvenirs include a Build Your Own Snowflake Ornament and a gingerbread cookie from Mother Ginger’s Cookie Corner that can be decorated to taste. Don’t forget to come and say “hi” to Clara and take a picture with her in front of the holiday decorated photo booth. Use props to dress up, make some funny faces, or flash a show stopping smile for the camera to remember the time spent at the Nutcracker Carnival.

Playing carnival games is not the only way to win prizes at the Nutcracker Carnival; there will also be contests and drawings! Participate in Mirliton Chairs and Arabian Limbo to win extra special prizes to other local adventures. Place a ticket in the drawings to win tickets to Clara’s Tea Party on Saturday, Dec. 14 or to see a performance of BTC’s “The Nutcracker”that will be performed at the University of Saint Joseph Hoffman Auditorium Dec. 12-15.

All serious carnival gamers are sure to get hungry, so thankfully there will be plenty of delicious carnival food to satisfy taste buds. Russell’s Creative Global Cuisine will cater hamburgers and hotdogs cooked to perfection. There will also be snacks for munching and a hot chocolate bar complete with marshmallows and peppermint sticks.

Ticket packages to the Nutcracker Carnival are available for purchase online at www.dancebtc.org. Carnival-goers can choose between Clara’s Bundle of 15 tickets for $20, Dew Drop’s Bundle of 25 tickets for $30, or Sugar Plum’s Bundle of 40 tickets for $40.

The Nutcracker Carnival is a fundraising event for Ballet Theatre Company. All proceeds will go towards “A Children’s Nutcracker” which is a fully dedicated performance of BTC’s annual production of “The Nutcracker” performed free of charge for children from local child advocacy agencies.

Ballet Theatre Company is thrilled to celebrate 21 years of artistry this 2019-2020 season. Since its founding in 1999, BTC has staged over 75 ballet productions, has trained nearly 1,000  aspiring dancers, and has made dance accessible to over 10,000 underserved Greater Hartford children. Ballet Theatre Company is supported in part by the Greater Hartford Arts Council, the State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development Office of the Arts, Cricket Press, and Hearst Connecticut Media Group.
