Blue Back Square’s new owners and property managers are looking to ramp up the energy and activity level for people of all ages in the mixed-use West Hartford development, and will launch the new season with “Summer in The Square” on Wednesday, June 23, from 5-8 p.m.

The event will include live music courtesy of Soul Sound Review (6-8 pm.), as well as a roaming magician, caricatures, balloons, and character appearances – including “a friendly neighborhood superhero.”

Shops and eateries will feature special Summer in The Square offers as well, including giveaways and enter-to-win prizes.

West Hartford Pride will host a “Pride Festival and DragFest” in Blue Back Square’s courtyard on Saturday, June 26, from 1-5 p.m.

For more information, visit the West Hartford Pride website or Facebook page.

On Sunday, June 27, Blue Back Square will put an exclamation point on the end of Pride Month as World of Beer (73 Isham Rd.) hosts “Brunch Please!”

Artist Brian Colbath has restored the Pride flag painted on Isham Road in Blue Back Square.

According to organizers, Brunch Please! is “a wildly entertaining and family friendly Drag Brunch, featuring the area’s top Diva Kalysta Kaykes! World of Beer will take brunch to a whole new level with this epic brunch show, featuring an all-star cast of the area’s most fabulous drag queens, including Kalysta Kaykes, Ambrosia Lay Black, Amethyst, Ava Cado and more.  For years, Kalysta Kaykes has produced unparalleled Drag events all over the area, and now, these dazzling queens are bringing their glitz, glamour, attitude and comedy to World of Beer!”

Brunch specials will include Pride-themed items like Rainbow Pancakes, Mimosa Flights, and Glittery cocktails, along with World of Beer favorites like the Hangover Skillet, Brunch Burger, WOB*Star Breakfast. BeerMosas, Bloody Mary’s, and the area’s largest selection of beer will also be available.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 27, with the first show at noon and the second show at 1:30 p.m.

The drag shows are free of charge and are family friendly and appropriate for people of all ages.
