U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal told reporters Monday morning that he was worried about the potential for the year-old conflict in the Middle East to grow, but that there are opportunities for diplomacy to pull the region back from the brink.
“I am more deeply concerned than ever about the potential widening of this war, but I think there’s a real hope for peace,” Blumenthal said at a news conference held at the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. “And I think that Israel’s success on the battlefield militarily needs to be matched by successful diplomacy.
