The Town of West Hartford is inviting residents to submit vertical photos, artwork or drawings celebrating the spirit of the holiday season for a chance to be featured on light pole banners in West Hartford Center.

The town of West Hartford municipal parking is looking to put images of winter celebrations, family traditions, kindness and giving, community, hope, and joy across the Center for the holiday season.

The town invites residents to submit photos, artwork or drawings created by or owned by the submitters. Regulations include an 18+ age restriction, unless given permission by a parent or guardian. Submissions will also grant the Town of West Hartford an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use, reproduce, modify, display, publish, and distribute the image in any form or media, for any Town purpose, without notice, credit, or compensation. Submissions will not be returned, and the Town is not obligated to use any image.

Along with regular exposure, the winter themed light posts will also be shown at West Hartford’s holiday stroll, CLA Blue Black Mitten Run 5k,  and other winter holiday events.

West Hartford has previously featured community artwork on its light pole banners. In 2017, banners were displayed near Town Hall during Celebrate West Hartford featuring original paintings by Bristow Middle School’s Art Club. Led by art teacher Kelly Smurthwaite, the project encouraged students to create artwork inspired by things they found meaningful, interesting or noticed in their everyday lives.

The 2026 project, funded by West Hartford Municipal Parking funds, is now open to West Hartford residents, who can submit seasonal photos or artwork by Nov. 6 for a chance to be featured on light pole banners in West Hartford Center. Submissions can be emailed to [email protected].
