Ghouls and goblins, superheroes, princesses, and costumed characters of all types will once again have the opportunity to parade around the Center and Blue Back Square at the annual Moms & More Club of West Hartford Halloween Stroll, which returns this October after being canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s COVID-friendly Halloween Stroll will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 10-11:30 a.m., with Sunday, Oct. 24 as the rain date.

Children are invited to trick-or-treat outdoors at businesses throughout Blue Back Square and the Center, and there will also be a live broadcast from a local radio station, sports mascots posing for photos, and more Halloween fun. The event is appropriate for children of all ages.

Not all businesses will be participating in trick-or-treating, but those that are will have a sign on their door or kiosk. Candy will be available while supplies last.

Participating businesses will be found along LaSalle Road, Farmington Avenue, South Main Street, Memorial Road, and Isham Road. Families can begin and end their stroll at any point.

At Blue Back Square, Gina J. and 96.5 TIC will be on site hosting a trunk-or-treat event, games, and giveaways. Dog Star Rescue will join the event at 11 a.m. in the Raymond Road parking lot, and will hold a pet adoption.

“If anyone knows how challenging the past one-and-a-half years have been, it’s moms and small business owners,” said Marsha Jacobskind of Moms & More. “We’re excited to be able to gather the community for our annual Halloween Stroll on Oct. 23 and are offering complimentary sponsorship packages for participating businesses.”

Parking is available at Town Hall, in the garages on Isham Road, Memorial Road, and in the Town Center building on South Main Street, as well as the municipal lots on Brace Road and LaSalle Road. Parking fees apply, and please allow plenty of time to find a parking space to attend this popular event.

Moms & More was founded in 2001 and is a volunteer-run West Hartford-based parent organization focused on the needs of parents and children of West Hartford and the surrounding communities. The group’s mission is “to bring a small town atmosphere into a large city.”

More information about sponsorship of the Halloween Stroll as well as details about event activities can be found on the organization’s website.
