An alert Warrenton Avenue resident contacted West Hartford Police late Tuesday night after seeing a car burglary in progress, and police were able to swiftly apprehend and charge the suspect.
The incident took place at 11:39 p.m. on Tuesday, police said.
Lucasdaniel Viganor, 24, of Spruce Street in Danbury, has been charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, and trespassing.
According to police, Viganor was on foot, and seen burglarizing a vehicle in the area. Several other vehicles in the neighborhood had been left unlocked and police said they believe the other cars may have also been entered by Viganor.
The caller initially thought there might have been another suspect involved in the incident, but police said that a K-9 track did not turn up any evidence of another suspect.
Viganor was held overnight on $2,500 surety bond and is due in court in Hartford on Wednesday.
The West Hartford Police Department encourages residents to contact them if any suspicious incidents are observed, and to lock their cars and homes.
