Both Conard and Hall earned home field games in the first round of the CIAC Class LL boys soccer tournament, and both West Hartford teams took their respective fields at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, and both the Red Wolves and the Titans emerged victorious with 2-1 wins over their opponents.

No. 8 Conard hosted Maloney High School (Meriden) at McKee Stadium, where Colin Scrimgeour netted the first goal of the game with 18:23 left in the first half.

The Red Wolves led 1-0 at the half, but the No. 25 seed Spartans scored to tie the game.

The score remained tied at 1, until Bryan Flor scored with 20:32 remaining in the second half.

“At tournament time it’s about finding a way to win,” Conard second-year head coach Becca Lewis said. “Everyone’s going to give you their best effort and we found a way to do enough to move onto the next round.”

Conard (10-3-4) will host the second round contest on Thursday, Nov. 9, with the time and opponent (winner of Tuesday night’s game between No. 9 Xavier and No. 24 Southington) still to be determined.

Across town at Hall, the No. 5 seed Titans were losing 1-0 at halftime to No. 28 Darien.

In the second half, Jack Deloreto and Eli Rotter both scored for Hall, pushing the Titans to a 2-1 win over the Blue Wave.

Hall, now 11-3-3, will host No. 12 Brien McMahon (Norwalk) on Thursday, Nov. 9, with the time to be determined.

If both West Hartford teams continue to advance, they could ultimately meet in the semifinals.
