Monday’s chilly and windy weather conditions made for a very interesting game for Conard and Northwest Catholic, keeping the players cool but making their passes and shots a little less accurate.
Conard Coach PJ Louis commented, “The wind picked up all game, so there was a lot of balls that kind of were carrying a little bit, but I don’t think it affected the outcome of the game in any way.”
After a flat start and a few shots from both teams, Elsie Dunnery scored the first goal of the game with 15 minutes left in the first half, which put Conard up 1-0, and got the team excited and ready to score again.

After much anticipation during halftime, Conard started the second half of the match with a bang and Aubrey Corn scored a goal with 30 minutes left in the half, putting Conard up 2-0. Coach Louis said, “We played with a lot of energy and created more opportunities, and I thought the girls really worked hard.”

Even though Conard’s offense was booming, their defense let in a goal from Northwest Catholic with seven minutes left in the already electric second half, changing the score to 2-1, making a comeback possible for NWC.
In the remaining seven minutes of the half, NWC was very hungry for a goal to tie the game, but Conard’s defense was just too strong, keeping the final score at 2-1, giving Conard the win.
