On Sunday morning, March 20, Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford partnered with the organization “Rise Against Hunger” to prepare 15,000 meals for distribution to schools around the world to feed hungry children.

Over 150 individuals – students in our Youth Engagement Program (YEP), parents, and congregants – scooped, weighed, sealed, and packed, accomplishing their goal in just over one hour. The atmosphere was electric as participants worked to the beat of loud music and a student sounded a “gong” as each new thousand goal was reached.
