Craigslist Transaction Turns into Sexual Assault of West Hartford Woman

A West Hartford woman had arranged a Craigslist transaction, but police report that when the man arrived at her home to complete the transaction he sexually assaulted her.

A West Hartford woman was sexually assaulted at her home Friday afternoon by a man with whom she had arranged a legitimate Craigslist transaction for sale of merchandise, police said.

The incident occurred on Glenn Lane, and was reported just after 2 p.m.

According to police, the victim was able to provide a description of the suspect, and said that he fled on bicycle. The suspect was located and apprehended a short distance from the woman’s home.

Joshua Jose Cordero, 26, of Hungerford Street in Hartford, has been charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, first- and third-degree sexual assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, and third-degree assault.

Cordero is being held on $1 million surety bond.

The woman was treated at a nearby hospital, police said.
