A whiskey-tasting event will be held on Nov. 12 to benefit West Hartford’s Playhouse on Park.

On Thursday, Nov. 12, spend an hour tasting four exclusive whiskeys with nationally known and well-respected Level 3 Whiskey Sommelier Irene Tan from Whiskey Mentors in Canterbury, CT. The tasting will be done over Zoom, and it will begin at 7 p.m.
A Zoom link will be sent to ticket holders in advance of the event. Tickets are $150 (includes a whiskey sample kit complete with the following selections: 25-year Glen Grant Single Cask from Douglas Laing Old Particular 103 PF, 12-year Kurayoshi Malt Blend 92PF, 15-year Whistle Pig Cask Strength Bespoke Barrel blended by Whisky Mentors 117.7 PF, 2020 Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon 133.9 PF.
You will also receive a whiskey tasting glass to help enhance your experience of the tasting.
The whiskey will be poured into ½-ounce tasting samples.
Ticket holders will be required to pick up their sample kits at Playhouse on Park in West Hartford, CT, prior to the event. Pick up times TBA.
After the tasting, participants will be able to spend time asking Irene questions and listening to her tales of how she is able to gain access to exclusive selections.
You can also order any of the whiskeys and receive them in time for the holidays; orders placed after the event will be delivered to Playhouse on Park and can be picked up there. Or, you may visit Irene Tan’s store, Canterbury Liquors, for an even larger selection of exclusive whiskey.
About Irene Tan: Irene Tan is the owner of Canterbury Liquors and Whisky Mentors Consulting. Prior to purchasing her own store in Canterbury in 2019, she co-owned Brooklyn Northeast Wines and Spirits since 2013. In this short time, Irene has made the retail locations she owns into destinations for whiskey lovers from near and far. She is known for her expertise in selecting some of the best single barrels of whiskies in the country, over 40 barrels to date, 22 of which were purchased for her Canterbury store just this year. She is well-respected in the industry and highly sought after by brands and distilleries to carry their products. While it’s not just about the knowledge she has about the whiskies she carries, or how she picks winning single barrels, it’s about the passion that exudes from her veins when you meet her to talk about whiskies. She listens to her customers and helps them find that special bottle to share with family and friends.
Her industry related qualifications include a WSET 2 Wine and Spirits Certification passed with Distinction, Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS), Certified Sherry Wine Specialist, Level 3 Whiskey Sommelier, Executive Bourbon Steward and a Certified Whisky Ambassador.
