Organizers are reaching out to all friends of Elmwood to help ‘Elmwood Bloom Again’ in 2024.

If it is spring, it’s time to make Elmwood Bloom again! And if it’s time to make Elmwood Bloom again, it’s time for lifelong West Hartford resident and businessman Charlie Hilborn to hit the pavement and seek the support from Elmwood businesses, residents, community groups, and friends.

If you live in Elmwood, or if you are a “Friend of Elmwood” and are able to, please send in your contribution today and join the Elmwood businesses to help make our neighborhood more attractive. Planters will be distributed along New Britain Avenue to add to those the businesses are purchasing.

To donate, you can mail checks by May , (made out to Knox Inc.) to: Charlie Hilborn, 65 Park Place Circle, West Hartford, CT 06110.

A little history about Elmwood Blooms

For the past nine years, around this time, Charlie Hilborn, representing the Elmwood Business Association (EBA), has been out and about in an effort to get merchant and community support for floral planters along New Britain Avenue to help beautify the neighborhood. Knox Inc. will again administer the program and has someone who will oversee the maintenance of the planters to ensure the display of beautiful blossoms to bring pride and joy to the community.  The hope is that Elmwood continues to lead the West Hartford Community with the most planters and really show the Elmwood Pride!

Today, we are reaching out to help make 2024 the best planter year ever by joining the local merchants to help beautify our neighborhood.

“I am so happy and humbled by the opportunity to work on this project for another year,” Charlie said.  “We are hoping those who are able to, will consider participating as every single donation will help contribute to the purchase of another planter. Let’s show all of West Hartford the Elmwood Pride.”

Knox Inc. is assisting with an incentive to purchase or contribute to a planter purchase by keeping the price at $225 per planter for those purchased before May 6, 2024.  Last year, nearly 40 residents and Friends of Elmwood contributed between $25 and $250. Many merchants purchased one or more planters. Please support the program if you are able to.

For more information please contact Charlie Hilborn at 860-559-8722 or email questions/ideas to [email protected].
