West Hartford Town Council Minority Leader Denise Berard Hall and her family have been spearheading the planting of flags on the graves of veterans in Fairview Cemetery for more than three decades, and will continue the Memorial Day tradition on Saturday, May 28, 2016, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Volunteers are encouraged to show up that morning to participate, and Hall said that all are welcome and there is no need to bring anything or RSVP.

“This is a wonderful way to honor our veterans who have died and reflect upon the meaning of Memorial Day,” Hall said.

Hall said that the flags will be provided, and the event will be held rain or shine.

Hall announced earlier this week that the program traditionally held at St. Peter Claver following the flag planting will not be held this year.

Contact Hall at 860-521-7654 with any questions.
