Former CT Dem Chair John Droney Dies at 79

John Droney, an attorney and West Hartford resident who once served as chair of the Connecticut Democratic Party, has passed away.
Community leader, public servant, lawyer and politician John Droney was remembered Monday by some of his colleagues.
Droney, who served as Connecticut’s Democratic Party chairman from 1986 to 1991, died Sunday at 79 years old.
“John Droney was a powerful presence in Democratic politics in Connecticut, serving as a town councilor, Town Chair and State Chair, member of the Democratic National Committee and senior advisor to then-DNC Chairman Chris Dodd,” current Democratic State Party Chairman Roberto Alves said in a statement Monday. “His dedication to Democratic politics will be missed.”
