The National Merit Scholarship Program has announced the National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists for William H. Hall High School’s Class of 2015. They are seniors Thomas Davis, Sophia Glagovich, Mikayla Gordon-Wexler, and Jasmine Kunnummel.
These academically talented students have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $33 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition.
About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
Semifinalists are the highest scorers in each of the 50 states, and scored among the top 1% of the approximately 1.4 million juniors who took the PSAT test in the fall of 2013.
