The man behind the curtain
Jason Bird knew at the age of 17 that he wanted to be a magician. He even begged his parents to go to Las Vegas after high school with the promise he would attend law school after. He never went to law school.
In Las Vegas, he would come to perform at famous hotels such as Caesars Palace and Bally’s (now Horseshoe), Bird has even been showcased on CW’s “Masters of Illusion.”
He has lifted people into air without touching them, utilized drones to complete card tricks, and has swallowed razors. And as Bird promises, he does it all.
The Las Vegas headliner has completed over 6,400 shows in over 200 cities, and has recently made a home in Glastonbury, Connecticut.
“I enjoy the intimate shows,”Bird said regarding his Connecticut performances. With a 60-person cap, the show keeps audiences close to the action, making each trick feel personal.
A recent performance was held at the Delamar in West Hartford, located on the second floor with about 30 attendees – some of whom dressed to impress for their night of magic. Outside of the room were vintage-style posters displaying his show name, “Parlor of Impossibilities.”

Jason Bird will be performing the Parlor of Impossibilities at the Delamar in West Hartford, Westport, and Mystic, with his next West Hartford show on Nov. 15, 2026. More dates and information can be found on his website and the Parlor of Impossibilities’ website.
*Spoiler Alert*
It is not totally a spoiler, because as a true magician, he never revealed how he did it. But below I will describe some of the absolutely how-did-that-happen magic he performed at the show.

Bird began, as all magicians do, by making a deck of cards appear before our very eyes. This would not be the only time something would change shape despite full attention and about eight feet of distance between us. He would later change the suits and number of cards, make coins appear as well as eggs, yes eggs, with a projector screen displaying his every move. And, if you thought it was a pre-recording, he would quickly convince you otherwise.

He also correctly guessed a number from a 50,000-digit book of pi by looking into the eyes of the attendee who chose it. He got it on the first try.
And to end the spoilers, from a first row glance, I illustrate my favorite trick of the night.
Bird held two relatively thick books, one of which was a Star Wars book he passed to an attendee. He asked him to choose a random page, memorize the first word on it, and pass the book to another attendee. This was repeated six times with six different audience members, while Bird looked everywhere except at those holding his book.
Then, without retrieving the book, he asked all six participants to stand. He gazed deeply at each one and proceeded to recite their words, asking each participant to sit down once their word was said. The trick ended with everyone seated and the audience wildly clapping. Because truly, how did this happen!?
Enough spoilers, the rest is a surprise for those who attend.
