Girls Scouts Holding ‘Meal-Themed’ Collections for West Hartford Food Pantry

West Hartford Girl Scouts are conducting a town-wide service project to support the Food Pantry.

West Hartford Girl Scouts will be collecting food for the Food Pantry as part of a town-wide service project.

The collection will be held on three Saturday in November, from 10 a.m. until noon, at 207 Oakwood Ave. (corner of Oakwood and St. Charles Street).

There will be boxes in which to put the food and girls/adults to receive it. This will be a drive-through event, with Girl Scouts and adults removing food from the vehicles and placing items in boxes that will be delivered to the Food Pantry.

Each of the following three weekends in November will have a theme and the starred items are what is needed in the greatest quantity. Gluten free, low sugar and low sodium items are always needed. Please make sure that all donated items have good “use by dates.”.No expired food items!

Monetary donations are also welcome.

November 7, 2020 Theme: Breakfast

  • **Cereals (cold, not heavily sugared)
  • **Applesauce and canned fruit
  • **Granola bars/cereal bars
  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Juice

November 14, 2020 Theme: Lunch

  • **Peanut and other nut butters (16-18 ounce jars)
  • **Boxed macaroni
  • **Tuna fish/canned meats
  • **Canned soups (especially vegetarian options)
  • Jelly/jam

November 21, 2020 Theme: Dinner

  • **Pasta/sauce (especially meat free sauces)
  • **Beans
  • **Rice/rice mixes (1 pound packages)
  • **Canned vegetables
  • **Canned pasta
  • Baking mixes (brownies, cakes, cookies, muffins)
