Last year, recognizing the need for data on young children in our community to help direct both practical initiatives and community-wide policy, Great by 8 and the West Hartford Public Schools partnered with the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to bring the Early Development Instrument (EDI) to West Hartford.  The EDI is a tool that provides population-level data on what kindergartners know and can do, and has been used in over 40 communities in the United States and extensively internationally.

Dr. Jessica Goldstein will present West Hartford’s EDI results, and facilitate a conversation based on those results about how we can support early childhood development in West Hartford. Dr. Goldstein is an Assistant Professor in Residence in the Measurement, Evaluation, and Assessment program at the University of Connecticut, and as a West Hartford resident and an active member of Great by 8, was instrumental in bringing the EDI to West Hartford.

Childcare will be available by reservation, and dinner will be provided. To RSVP: Please email [email protected], and complete registration form you receive in response.
