Guests Raise a Glass to Theatre at Playhouse on Park’s ‘Encore!’ On Tap Event

Encore! On Tap was held on Saturday, June 13, at New Park Brewing in West Hartford.

Several hundred guests enjoyed frosty glasses of New Park Brewing’s craft beers, sipped on signature cocktails, and enjoyed a feast from DORO Catering & Events in the beer garden while singers and dancers provided a range of entertainment for the garden party-themed event.
The annual Encore! fundraiser – which included live and silent auctions – was a resounding success. The paddle raise goal of $60,000 was exceeded – unlocking a matching donation – and in total the event raised more than $240,000 in support of Playhouse on Park’s mission of bringing professional theatre to the stage and transformative arts education to children, youth, and schools through Playhouse Theatre Academy.

Encore! On Tap was hosted by Olivia Fenton, and remarks were also shared by event co-chairs Amelia Flater Touros and Ali Forman. Playhouse Theatre Group Co-Founders Tracy Flater, Sean Harris, and Darlene Zoller also welcomed guests under the grant tent, officially sharing the news that Sasha Brätt will be taking over from Harris – who now lives in New York – as co-artistic director.

Longtime Playhouse on Park supporter Richard Rubenstein was honored with the POP Star Award.
Rosemarie Beskind, who will soon celebrate her 90th birthday and credits tap dancing for keeping her young, took the stage to dance and provide some remarks.

Guests enjoyed performances by acclaimed dancers and singers from past Playhouse on Park shows – as well as a preview of the upcoming “The Wild Party,” and closed out the evening with late night snacks and dancing until midnight to the music of Latanya Farrell and her band.
