The Hall boys soccer team hosted Berlin on Thursday in West Hartford.

In a fast paced game, Hall boys soccer faced off against Berlin Thursday evening at Conard High School in West Hartford, dominating the field and scoring a win of 3-1.

“It was a complete team effort,” commented Hall coach Zeke Seguro when asked what allowed them to secure such a win. “We still have a lot to work on, but I think we took our chances.”

The game started with a strong kickoff, with Berlin gaining possession first. Thus began a strenuous, quick back-and-forth between the two teams. Berlin secured the first goal just 10 minutes into the game.

That would be the last for Berlin, however, as Hall’s persistent offense and ability to keep possession led to Hall’s first goal by senior Christian Almeida (#10).

After multiple more attempts by both teams, Hall’s senior Aiden Winiarski (#9) secured Hall’s second goal.

Hall went into halftime up one against Berlin with a score of 2-1.

Under the lights, Hall’s team worked together to achieve many strong attempts on the Berlin goalie. Around halfway into the second half, Hall took advantage of their practiced tactics, and senior Grady Doyle (#5) won the final goal of the game.

“We capitalized on a couple of set pieces,” said Seguro. “That third goal was a beautiful goal by Grady.”

The match ended with a heated battle between Hall and Berlin, but Hall came out victorious with no further goals by Berlin, although they had many strong attempts.

Hall currently holds a record of 2-2-2, and faces off against Fairfield Prep in a tournament on Sunday, September 27.

To improve their chances of success against Fairfield Prep, Coach Seguro says the team “[needs] to be a little more decisive and dynamic in the final third with [their] runs.”
