Siegal was a devoted soccer and lacrosse player whose contributions to the team and spirit on the field will not be forgotten. The Hall boys soccer team played Friday’s game in his honor, wearing black jerseys with “Siegal” on the back.
Although the game was low-scoring, Hall held Simsbury scoreless. A plus, head coach Zeke Seguro noted.
“We didn’t allow a goal, so that’s a positive. I’ll take that any time,” Seguro said.
Throughout the majority of the game, Hall maintained possession of the ball, allowing for the shutout. The only goal scored was by Hall junior Jeremi Palma (#7), assisted by sophomore Calvin Wood (#15), midway into the first half.
By the second quarter, Simsbury was desperate to make it onto the scoreboard. This resulted in some incredibly intense gameplay and many fouls. Multiple time-outs were called, especially during the last 15 minutes of the game, adding to the nerves spectators and players experienced.
Coach Seguro expressed places of improvement for the Varsity team. He noted the players need for composure in front of the goal.
“The team was able to create many opportunities”, he said. “But was just not able to finish them.”

Friday’s game also held special memorial items. The team sold socks with Camden’s number, #23, written on them. The money raised went towards the Camden Siegal Memorial Fund, a sports and academic scholarships for children in West Hartford. More information about the fund can be found on the memorial fund website.
