Hall field hockey played their Senior Night game against Avon Thursday night, and secured a win of 4-1.
The team hosted their annual celebration of the seniors and their families before the game started, a lovely way to honor their contribution to the team, and send them off after graduation with love from those they’re leaving behind.
Hall’s field hockey seniors on varsity include Nora Kerr (#12), Maddie Cheever (#13), Isabella Steinberg (#14), Ava Leahy (#16), Natalie Gillis (#18), Katelyn Cykley (#27), Lea Feingold (#29), Erin Cattelan (#34), and Claire Witinski (#91), all of whom were starters on Thursday’s game.

The first quarter opened excitingly, and it was clear both teams were desperate for the first goal. Ultimately, the first one was scored by #21 on Avon. They could have gotten a second one, as the quarter closed in the middle of a corner play. The clock stopped but the play continued, but after two attempts on goal, the play failed and they moved into the second quarter.
Hall maintained possession for most of the remainder of the game, which allowed them to score their four goals against Avon’s defense and goalie.
Three of those goals were scored by senior Katelyn Cykley (#27), earning her a hat trick for the game. The fourth was scored by Simone Davidson (#20), a junior, with an assist also from Cykley.

Ellie Tate, Hall’s head coach, noted in an interview that the team had “great spacing on the field and made some beautiful connecting passes.”
Hall beat Avon 4-1, signifying all the hard work the seniors have put into their sport. It was truly inspiring that they were able to secure a win while celebrating their team members, showing unity, and spreading love.
Coach Tate noted the pride she felt for the seniors on Hall’s team. “I’ve coached them for the four years, and so knowing who they were their freshman year to the young women that they are now is incredible,” she said.
Before their game against Conard, which took place on Tuesday, Oct. 27, Tate said she wanted them to “[go] in with that confidence … and [play] the way we know how to play.”
