The Hall girls varsity volleyball game kicked off Monday just after 6 p.m. following the junior varsity team, which had won their game against Bloomfield 2-0.
Hall dominated the match, and even though they won 3-0, the third set was a bit closer than planned.

Libero Kaylani Yllescas (#21) was third in the line up for serving and dominated in the first set for Hall. There was only an end put to her reign after she had served 11 times consecutively. Many of her serves, if not the majority, were aces. The first set was won by Hall, 25-6.
Bloomfield would not be discouraged by this early determination by Hall, though, as in the second set they began to put up more of a fight and come together as a team allowing more rallies. Both Hall and Bloomfield initiated many subs throughout the sets. Some combinations of players had a better chemistry and flow than others, as was reflected in their gameplay.
It sadly wouldn’t be quite enough for Bloomfield, especially after #22 Madison Andrian went on a rampage with kills. The second set came to an end as a win for Hall, 25-10.

The third set is when it began to get a lot closer. Bloomfield for the first time had taken the lead with 13-8, going on a streak. Nevertheless, that didn’t last for long, as #12 Ruby Binder went on a serving run to tie the game and then bring the score to 19-13.
The score was then pushed to another tie at 21, and both teams had onlookers on the edges of their seats as the score was brought to 22-22. Hall would not give up on the chance to take the match 3-0, however, as they subbed back in a few starters to finish off the final set 25-22.

After the game, coach Elena Pevar said that there was a lot of subbing because she thinks it important for figuring things out for future games. “That’s a great thing to be able to just use all of them, and see what works and who feels comfortable next to each other,” she said.
Coach Pevar was seen on the sidelines up and ready throughout the whole game yelling out plays for her team and words of motivation. She and the team clearly have built a great bond, which was evident during and after the game. The team was very comfortable joking around with her, but also taking advice and requesting to practice certain skills. There is a duality of playfulness, but also the ability to really concentrate and win, that makes this team absolutely dominate the court.
Hall (7-4) will travel to Bristol Eastern on Wednesday and host Farmington on Friday.
