The Jewish Association for Community Living (JCL) Board of Directors honored all of its employees for their selfless dedication and commitment to making a difference in the lives of your neighbors with developmental disabilities.

The annual JCL Employee Recognition Celebration was held at Dunkin Donuts Park on June 7. Employees at JCL support 45 adults with developmental disabilities living in group homes and in apartments and condos located in West Hartford.

Nine employees were specifically honored for helping adults with developmental disabilities participate in community life as independently and safely as possible, and provide every reasonable opportunity to live safe, healthy and vibrant lives. The following were specifically noted:

5 Years: Regina Alexander, Angela Benjamin, Luis Lozano, Stephanie Morales

10 Years: Yvonne Gordon, Brenda Jervis, Deidre Reichenbach

15 Years: Kim Breedlove

25 Years: Denis Geary

Eileen Able, Director of Administration at JCL, noted the following in her speak about Executive Director Denis Geary, an honoree celebrating his 25th anniversary: “Denis values the dedicated and loving staff that make every individual we serve feel like family. It’s the JCL employees who give their time to the people they serve day in and day out. In emergency situations, such as snowstorms, they leave their own families to ensure JCL residents are safe and secure. It’s our employees, our selfless volunteers and board members, and our community friends that make JCL who it is today. Thank you!”

About JCL

The Jewish Association for Community Living exists for one reason only — to help adults with developmental disabilities participate in community life as independently and safely as possible. Many of the JCL residents grew up in the West Hartford area. With the support of JCL, they have been able to remain in the area with continued ties to family and friends. Our programs and services are open to all faiths and backgrounds. However, JCL is one of the few organizations in the area that help adults with special needs practice and reinforces their Jewish heritage. JCL manages group homes, supported living homes, and day programs in West Hartford. For more information visit www.jcl-ct.org.
