Join Ignite Fitness via Zoom on May 31 at 10 a.m. for a special class to raise awareness for Mental Health.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Ignite is partnering with Tara’s Closet for this special event. “Exercise improves mental health by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood and by improving self-esteem and cognitive function,” said Ignite Fitness owner Kimberly Zengerle.

Inspired by a young woman who lost her life to bipolar disorder, Tara’s Closet, a Jewish communal initiative, provides free clothes to those in need as it helps those coping with mental illness.

Barbara Roth, founder of Tara’s Closet, said, “There is a direct correlation between physical and mental health. During times of quarantine and social isolation, exercise helps improve one’s mental health by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. We are excited to partner with Ignite Fitness to raise awareness of mental illness since the coronavirus pandemic has significantly affected mental health for everyone, especially for those with an existing mental illness.”
