In what was technically an away game for the Chieftains, the boys hockey team soundly defeated the co-op team that includes its crosstown rival Saturday afternoon on Senior Day before an overflow crowd at Veterans Memorial Rink in West Hartford. Both Conard and the Hall-Southington team play their home games at Veterans Memorial.
Conard’s Grayson Lacroix scored the first goal, but Hall-Southington’s Caelan Booth tied it up and the score was 1-1 at the end of the first period.
Conard dominated the scoreboard for the remainder of the game, with a hat trick by senior Zach Polo and another by Lacroix. Matt McCormick and Patrick Corcoran had assists.
Division II Conard ends the regular season with a record of 9-9-2.
Hall-Southington, which plays in Division III, is 11-7 with one more game left in the regular schedule. The Warrior-Knights will face Division II E.O. Smith-Tolland on Wednesday at Veterans Memorial.
Conard and Hall-Southington have both qualified for divisional championship tournament play, and those pairings will be announced on Friday, March 4.
