Kingswood Oxford school will present an evening with John O’Hurley ‘72, his memoir show of music and humor entitled A Man with Standards at Kingswood Oxford School on Friday, June 9.

The evening will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and his performance at 8 p.m.

An acclaimed triple threat actor, singer and dancer, O’Hurley is best known for his star turning, Screen Actors Guild Award role as the full-throated, grandiloquent, J. Peterman in the ever popular sitcom, Seinfeld, host of the game show Family Feud from 2006 to 2010, host of Purina’s annual National Dog Show every Thanksgiving since 2002 and contestant in Season 1 Dancing with the Stars, where he officially won the ABC series with the highly contested “Dance Off.”

O’Hurley has a storied theater career spanning decades including the lead role in the Las Vegas production of Spamalot, in which he played King Arthur. He also starred on Broadway and on national tour as Billy Flynn in Chicago.

In A Man with Standards, O’Hurley will perform a nostalgic songbook ranging from from Sinatra to Mancini in a cabaret setting. He will be backed by the full West Hartford Symphony Orchestra, the first time his performance will be accompanied by a full orchestra.

Interspersed between the musical numbers, O’Hurley engages the audience with witty banter regarding his life in theater and television.

In the 90-minute set, O’Hurley regales the audience with his memoirs of a gentler time in West Hartford when children could wander through West Hartford Center without the accompaniment of a parent.

O’Hurley shares his time at Kingswood Oxford when a friend told him he had a terrible voice to meeting Sinatra who gave him advice to become the singer he is today.

Kingswood Oxford Head of School, Dennis Bisgaard, said, “We’re thrilled to have John O’Hurley back on campus as an alum and even more excited that he selected KO as a venue to showcase his enormous talents. What a treat for West Hartford to have a native son back to entertain the community!”

O’Hurley said, “I took my first steps on the stage at KO so coming back to the school to perform completes the circle.” He believes that West Hartford is one of the great stories in the country of renewing an area with a vibrant downtown with shops and restaurants.

O’Hurley visits West Hartford often since his father, a retired ENT surgeon at St. Francis Hospital for 40 years, still lives in the area.

The event will be held in the new Hoffman Field House on the Kingswood Oxford campus, 170 Kingswood Rd., West Hartford, CT. Use the Troutbrook Road entrance for easy parking.

Seating is limited. Tickets are $75 for dinner and the show. Limited VIP meet and greet ticket pack is $100. For tickets click here.
