Lamont Announces New Equity Office, Republicans Want Other Priorities

The office will be overseen by a chief equity and opportunity officer who has not yet been named.

Despite being in Germany on an economic development trip Tuesday, Gov. Ned Lamont announced that he was creating a new office of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for the purpose of furthering equity in opportunities in Connecticut.

Lamont said in a statement that through Executive Order 24-2, he is establishing the Connecticut Office of Equity and Opportunity (OEO), which will be held within the Governor’s Office.
