To the Editor,

I just received a brochure in the mail from Luke Bronin. Not surprisingly, he offers no new ideas and no real case for turning our backs on our Congressman, John Larson.

Connecticut’s First District already has the great and energetic fighter for the progressive causes we’re concerned about. John Larson is fighting aggressively to bring down healthcare costs; to challenge I.C.E. head-on, even right here in West Hartford when they cruelly arrested our neighbor Seyo Cecunjanin; to stop corruption; to protect and enhance Social Security; to provide Medicare for All; to defend Medicaid; and to make the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share.

Between Bronin and Larson, it’s Larson who is the experienced, stronger, and more effective fighter. Larson is the more progressive candidate, with a record that has earned him the support of the Working Families Party and three dozen labor unions. He is revered by his colleagues in Congress, as demonstrated by those who have traveled here to campaign for him. And he is detested and targeted by the current Administration, which he has consistently and vociferously challenged.

The primary is right around the corner – Tuesday, Aug. 11. Democrats understand that these ideas are not all new, but they are far more likely to be achieved with an experienced person in a leadership position in Congress to do just that – John Larson.

We’re better served by mobilizing our energy, frustration, and campaign spending in purple and red states with strong Democratic candidates, to help win back the House; not by removing our own hard-working and effective representative of Connecticut, its towns, businesses, and its people. Let Larson continue to produce results in funding and lawmaking for the 27 towns in the 1st District.

Included in the millions of dollars he’s delivered for West Hartford are monies for internet access, education, the Buena Vista tennis/pickleball courts, Restaurant Revitalization funds, the Children’s Museum, the Jewish Historical Society, the fire department, et al.

The bottom line – Vote Row D on your ballot. That is where you will find continued results. That is where you find Congressman John Larson. He earns our votes every day he’s on the job. Early Voting: Aug. 3-9.

Joe Quinn
