My fellow residents,

During this volatile time, we are in critical need of experienced public servants who consistently put the best interests of the community above political considerations. Deputy Mayor Leon Davidoff is a consummate example of seasoned public service.

I had the honor of serving with Leon for many years in a variety of capacities, from the Town Plan & Zoning Commission to the Town Council. In each role Leon was a gentleman and professional, respected by both parties, residents, business owners and town administration alike.

Leon’s vast experience in town government is of paramount importance to keeping our town on its current trajectory. Most work of our local government is done in the trenches. It is detailed, arduous and typically unglamorous. Leon has particularly distinguished himself with his appreciation for and mastery of the granular details of, among many topics, zoning and budget matters.

No matter how large or small the decision, Leon always strives to make certain that it is in harmony with best interests of the community and with an eye to what long-term legacy it will leave behind. This consistently pragmatic approach to leadership has been crucial to making West Hartford the envy of so many communities.

On a personal level, I have also watched him balance his public service with running a small business and being a wonderful husband to Lexie and father to Becky and Lani, both distinguished graduates of Hall High.

Deputy Mayor Leon Davidoff is experienced, measured, collaborative and wholly dedicated to the best interests of West Hartford. I am proud to have served alongside him, I am proud to call him my friend, and I am proud to cast my vote for him. I strongly encourage my fellow residents to support Leon and the entire Democratic team on Nov. 2.

R. Scott Slifka
Mayor of West Hartford, 2003-16
