Dear Editor,
As a 40 plus year West Hartford resident and home owner with five generations of family having also schooled and owned property here in West Hartford, I write in support of Philip Tummescheit for District 18 in West Hartford. We definitely need new young blood here to fairly represent the common good.
I also write to counter the attacks of the letter to the editor submitted and published in West Hartford news by DTC commender Megan Wallett.
Here is my analysis of the situation: West Hartford property taxes are not being capped by the current town council of which Tiffani McGinnis is a member. She further dodges these fiscal issues by attacking the president and refusing to find means to keep West Hartford fiscally accountable to the property owners and residents. It can be argued she has ‘experience’ and at age 55 years qualifies to continue to represent the public good but this is not the results we are seeing.
Philip however endorses fairness and fiscal accountability. If you listen to the debate available at WH public TV you will see a well spoken, engaging person who is addressing the issues dodged by his opponent and who has lived in town one year longer than Tiffani. Further, Philip’s fairness and HEAD ON facing of the affordability issues, and privacy issues shows he intends to engage on a long term basis with both the community he proposes to represent and with the legislature to make these changes in West Hartford and in Connecticut. Tiffani however is at an age whereby she might find WH unaffordable herself and leave the area, whereas Philip intends to remain on a long term basis.
A Vote for Philip is a vote for yourself and your community.
Mary Nagy
