To the Editor:
We are writing to express our strong support for Philip Tummescheit, who is running for state representative in the 18th District. As a West Hartford resident of 13 years, Philip has demonstrated tremendous diligence on the campaign trail, proving just how hard he is willing to work for the community he cares about. Although Philip is young, he possesses a maturity well beyond his years. If elected, we believe he will bring much-needed, constructive change to both our district and our state.
Whether speaking in person or during the debates, Philip consistently demonstrates a concrete grasp of the complex issues plaguing our town. He is poised, respectful, and focused on practical solutions. In particular, he deeply understands the burdens that skyrocketing energy costs, increasing taxes, and unfunded state mandates place on regular families.
Connecticut is frequently ranked as one of the least affordable states in the country, and we desperately need leaders who are willing to change that trajectory. Unfortunately, decades of long-standing problems have been left unsolved by the current party in power, while property taxes in West Hartford continue to rise year after year. Our town and state desperately need a fresh perspective.
Having a new set of eyes to examine these decades-old challenges is exactly what our community needs, and Philip is the dedicated leader to bring those new ideas to the table. We proudly offer him our support.
Sincerely,
Gayle Harris West Hartford Town Councilor
John Lyons West Hartford Town Councilor
