To the Editor:
Public Service Requires More Than Politics – Why I Support Tiffani McGinnis
In a few weeks, voters will head to the polls. While national politics may dominate the headlines, our state and local elected officials often have the greatest impact on our daily lives. That is why the election for State Representative in the 18th District matters so much to West Hartford, and why I believe Tiffani McGinnis is the right person to represent our Hartford community.
As a father of three active children, my wife and I want leaders who understand our community, appreciate the challenges families face in today’s economy, and are willing to work with people regardless of their political leanings. We need leaders whose life experiences have taught them how to make thoughtful, responsible decisions that affect others.
Tiffani has earned the support of organizations advocating for gun safety, environmental protection, and working families. But my support goes beyond political endorsements. From the moment I met Tiffani, I recognized someone who understands the importance of government in people’s lives and views public service as a responsibility, not simply a title.
As the first person in her family to earn a college degree, Tiffani put herself through college while navigating the challenges of being a single mother and raising her child amid economic uncertainty. Those experiences teach lessons no political briefing can provide. They teach you to make sacrifices, persevere when the path forward is uncertain, and keep going because others depend on you. As a mother, Tiffani understands that the decisions we make today shape our children’s futures and that families often cannot afford to wait for things to get better.
That kind of life experience matters in public service. Behind every decision about education, health care, or the economy are families working hard to make ends meet and build a better future. Tiffani understands that not everyone starts with the same opportunities and that our government plays a vital role in this.
Tiffani has put that perspective to work on the West Hartford Town Council. Her experience in health care, owning a small business, and advocating for others has given her a practical understanding of the challenges residents face. As a mother, she also understands how essential our public schools are to our children, our families, and the identity of West Hartford. Preserving what makes our town special requires thoughtful decisions and a commitment to future generations.
West Hartford deserves a State Representative with real-world experience, sound judgment, and a genuine commitment to public service. We don’t need more political grandstanding or leaders who view every issue through a partisan lens. We need someone who listens, understands people’s struggles, and works with others to get things done.
As a former elected official and father of three, I believe life experience matters. Public service is about more than having the right talking points; it is about having the judgment and empathy to make decisions that improve people’s lives. Tiffani McGinnis brings those qualities, and I am proud to support her for State Representative in the 18th District. I encourage my fellow West Hartford residents to do the same.
