To the Editor:

As the new president of West Hartford Little League, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and thank the hundreds of current and former WHLL families that have made our league what it is today.

I have been a resident of West Hartford since 1999 and an engaged member of West Hartford Little League since 2011. Having fond memories of playing in Newington Little League as a boy, I knew I wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps and be a Little League coach for my own children. I began my coaching career in West Hartford Girls Softball League, where I coached my daughter. I have since coached my sons (ages 12 and 7) across all divisions of WHLL, including summer District All-Stars and Fall Ball. In addition to coaching, I have served as a Division Director, Fundraising Chairperson, and Vice President for WHLL.

My love for baseball is matched by the enjoyment I get out of working with young people. From my college summer job as a camp counselor to my career as a high school English teacher, I have always fed off of the energy and excitement of kids. While I love teaching fundamental baseball skills and sharing my knowledge of the game of baseball, I am well aware that the most valuable aspects of Little League go beyond the field, for the true Little League experience entails the life lessons imparted, the friendships formed, and the memories made.

I am proud and thankful to be a part of the West Hartford Little League Team, which includes the league founders, the past presidents, the board members, and all of the WHLL families. I am looking forward to an outstanding 2019 spring season.

Our Opening Day is April 28, 2019. Please feel free to stop by the Little League complex (at the corner of Trout Brook and Asylum) on any given Sunday to watch some baseball and soak up the atmosphere. Finally, we will be accepting registrations for boys and girls ages 4-12 up until March 11. Please visit our website (westhartfordlittleleague.com) to register.

Sincerely,

Jeff Cianflone
President, West Hartford Little League
