TOWN CLERK CANDIDATE

Name: Leon S. Davidoff

Party/Position: Democrat – Town Clerk

Family Information: Wife (Lexy); Daughters (Becky and Lani)

Political Experience: Currently, Town Clerk. Served 15 ½ years on the West Hartford Town Council; Deputy Mayor (May 2016-November 2017 & November 2019-November 2021); Served on West Hartford Town Plan and Zoning Commission for over 7 years; 3 years as Chair.

Why are you running for office? Simply stated, I truly enjoy serving our wonderful community!

In April of this year, I was appointed Town Clerk, after serving 15 ½ years on the Town Council.

I am honored to be able to continue my service after my tenure on the Town Council. The Office of the Town Clerk interacts on a daily basis with our residents, non-residents and our business community.

I enjoy interacting with all visitors to the Office of Town Clerk as they record documents on the Land Records, obtain a license for their dogs, receive a copy of a birth certificate, death certificate or marriage certificate, apply for a marriage license, file permits and licenses as well as handle the important task of Absentee Ballots for local, state and national elections. With the assistance of a dedicated professional staff, the Office of the Town Clerk diligently records, maintains and preserves essential town records and other important documentation.

In addition to being Town Clerk, I am tasked with serving as the Clerk of the Town Council, which requires that all agendas and minutes of the Town Council are posted timely in the Town Hall or online so that the public is aware of what matters are before the Town Council, which members were present at the meeting and what actions were taken. Further, as Council Clerk, I attend all regular and special meetings of the Town Council.

Since becoming Town Clerk, I have attended two statewide conferences of the Connecticut Town Clerk Association (CTCA) as well as numerous educational seminars on various subjects as they relate to the duties of being a Town Clerk.  Just recently, I was appointed as a member of the Legislative Committee of the CTCA.

As Town Clerk, I am constantly reviewing current practices and procedures so that we are statutorily compliant while at the same time being cost-effective.

The Office of the Town Clerk has one mission – to provide polite, welcoming customer service to all.

I am readily accessible by phone (860) 561-7447, by email: [email protected] or in-person on a daily basis to assist with any inquiries.  Please feel free to reach out to me.
