The West Hartford Food Pantry has a critical need for certain items.

West Hartford Food Pantry coordinator Nancy Stockman has put out a plea for certain items that are in very short supply, and is hoping that the community can help out immediately rather than waiting for holiday-related food drives.

The community has been asked to consider picking up the following items for donation to help restock the Food Pantry:

  • Pasta and sauce
  • Peanut butter (16-18 oz. jars) and jelly
  • Canned fruit/applesauce
  • Baked beans
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Corn
  • Shelf stable milk – 32 oz. containers
  • Rice
  • Soup
  • Canned vegetables

“At this time, we do NOT need traditional Thanksgiving items (pumpkin, cranberry, stuffing etc.),” Stockman said. “What we truly need are the staple items that we put into our pre-packed bags.”

Donations can be left on the carts in the Town Hall lobby, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p..m.

If you have any questions, or need assistance bringing in your donation, please contact Nancy Stockman at 860-561-7569 or [email protected].
