Photos: 30th Running of the Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon - We-Ha

The Eversource Hartford Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K kicked off in Hartford’s Bushnell Park at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, with more than 8,000 runners pounding the pavement for as many as 26.2 miles and more than 2,000 volunteers providing support.

This year marked the 30th running of the event and the courses were revamped, with both the full marathon and the half marathon traversing the roads of West Hartford before runners split off in downtown Hartford just past the 8-mile marker.

Alex Norstrom of Glastonbury was the winner of the full marathon, breaking the tape in 2:16:53, and Jenna Giglioti of Amherst, MA, was the female winner in 2:44:08.

Benjamin Lanza of West Hartford with sixth overall in the marathon, finishing in 2:25:57. Everett Hackett – who grew up in West Hartford and is currently a cross country coach and teaching assistant at Hall High School, finished in 14th place in 2:33:24.

Ethan Hermann of Philadelphia won the half marathon, crossing the finish line in 1:04:51. Matthew Walker of West Hartford was fifth in 1:06:01. Regan Rome of Providence was the female winner in 1:13:49.

The 5K was won by 19-year-old West Hartford resident Amruth Niranjan, in 15:20, with resident Chris Angelo finishing second in 15:36. Kaitlyn Stevens of New Britain was the first female, completing the race in 17:36.
