National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Is Saturday in West Hartford

Prescription and over-the-counter medications can be dropped off at West Hartford Town Hall on Saturday, April 25.

The West Hartford Police Department, in collaboration with the West Hartford Bloomfield Health District and the West Hartford Prevention Partnership, will host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the West Hartford Town Hall parking lot.

Community members are invited to anonymously drop off expired, unwanted, or unused medications, including prescription and over-the-counter tablets, vaping products, and liquid medications. Please note that intravenous solutions, injectable medications, EpiPens, and needles will not be accepted.

All collected items will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.

Accepted

  • Prescription and over-the-counter dosage medications, i.e., tablets, capsules, vaping products, and liquids.
  • Vaping Devices/E-Cigarettes: Accepted at collection sites, but lithium-ion batteries must be removed before drop-off. If the batteries cannot be removed, the device cannot be accepted at the collection site, and you are advised to consult a store that recycles lithium-ion batteries.

Not accepted

  • Intravenous solutions, injectable medicines, Epi-pens, and needles are not accepted.

Please take pills out of prescription bottles for disposal. Sealed plastic bags are recommended.
