Notary Services Return to West Hartford Town Clerk’s Office

Notary services are available in the Town Clerk’s Office at West Hartford Town Hall, 50 South Main Street.

As of April 7, 2025, the West Hartford Town Clerk’s Office has resumed notary services to the public. The fee for the service is $5 per document, payable by cash or by check.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring TWO forms of current identification with a signature. The signature must match on both forms of identification.
- The primary ID must be issued by a state or federal government, and it must contain a photograph and signature. Examples include a current driver’s license or passport, and non-driver photo ID.
- The secondary ID must include a signature. Examples include a current SIGNED credit card, debit card, fishing permit, or pilot’s license.
Note: Social Security cards and birth certificates are NOT acceptable IDs.
Remember:
- All signers must be present.
- Be sure each document is complete and ready for signature, but do NOT sign it ahead of time. The signer MUST sign the document IN FRONT OF THE NOTARY.
- The document must be in English, and the Notary must be able to communicate with the signer in English.
- Notaries can refuse service at their discretion.
The Town Clerk’s Office is NOT able to notarize the following documents:
- Wills or End of Life documents, Living Wills, Trusts, Durable Power of Attorney, Healthcare Powers of Attorney, Guardianship Designations
- Real Estate documents
- Vital Records (birth, marriage, and death certificates)
- I-9 (USCIS employee verification) forms
- Prenuptial agreements
- Tax Returns
- Military Records
- Judicial Decrees
- Petitions
The Town Clerk’s Office is located at West Hartford Town Hall, 50 South Main Street, Room 313, and is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
