Playhouse on Park continues its Mainstage Series with Dale Wasserman’s unforgettable story that explores the beauty and danger of being original: One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Ezra Barnes, who won Connecticut Critics Circle Best Director for his work on Season Nine’s The Diary of Anne Frank, returns to direct this play.

This Tony-award winning adaption by Dale Wasserman pays homage to the original storytelling of the Classic novel by Ken Kesey, while adding a chilling, poignant edge that captivates and enthralls audiences.

In preparing to bring this show to the intimate Playhouse stage, Barnes notes, “The characters in ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’ are products of a society that values conformity over all else. Kesey’s novel, reflecting the twilight of the Eisenhower era, will be approached as a metaphor for our country’s quest for expansion and dominance. Chief Bromden, the American Indian, is the audience’s lens through which we see a microcosm of America: the state mental institution where the story is set.”

One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest runs Oct. 31-Nov. 18. Tickets are now on sale and are $30-$40. Student, Senior, and Let’s Go Arts discounts are available. Previews are on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, and opening night is Friday, Nov. 2. A complimentary wine and cheese reception will be held at 7 p.m., with the show to follow at 8 p.m.

There is a special Tuesday matinee on Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. with all tickets at $22.50.

Tickets are only $25 for Young Professionals Nights Out, which includes a reception with wine and snacks, a chance to mingle with other Young Professionals (ages 21-35) from the Greater Hartford Community and a ticket to a performance. The next Night Out will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14 in conjunction with One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. The reception starts at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.
