‘One Sensational Summer’ Will Begin with ‘A Chorus Line’ at West Hartford’s Playhouse on Park

The final show of the mainstage season at West Hartford’s Playhouse on Park, ‘A Chorus Line,’ opens June 17.

Tickets are already selling fast for “A Chorus Line,” Playhouse on Park‘s final mainstage show of season seven! Opening night is Friday, June 17, at 8 p.m., with a wine and cheese reception beforehand.

For years, audience members have connected with this story of human perseverance as told through the journey of professional Broadway chorus dancers aspiring to make it big on stage. Conceived and originally directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, and based on the book by James Kirkwood & Nicholas Dante, “A Chorus Line” is a musical for anyone who has ever had a dream and put it all on the line.

Playhouse on Park is thrilled to welcome a cast of over 25 talented young performers who are ready to heat up the stage with this fresh take on this winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Co-artistic directors of Playhouse on Park, Sean Harris and Darlene Zoller return as co-directors of A Chorus Line. Sean Harris (Director) is the co-founder of Playhouse on Park, where he has directed HAIR, ANGELS IN AMERICA, OF MICE AND MEN, METAMORPHOSES and CABARET.

Darlene Zoller (Director/Choreographer) is the co-founder of Playhouse on Park. Credits include: PASSING STRANGE, HAIR, CHICAGO, SWINGING ON A STAR, CABARET, MAMA D’S OUTRAGEOUS ROMP and 13 original productions for stop/time dance theater.

Emmett Drake and Mike Morris return to the Playhouse as music directors of this moving drama. Our live band is ready to play memorable musical numbers including I Can Do That, What I Did for Love, One (Singular Sensation) and I Hope I Get It, with music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban.

Featured in this production are: Eric Robertson (Broadway/1st Nat’l Tour: Ensemble MOVIN’ OUT. Stratford Festival of Canada: Diesel/us. Riff WEST SIDE STORY) as Zach and Michelle Pruiett (Ariel u/s THE LITTLE MERMAID. Tours: JERSEY BOYS, SWEET CHARITY, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST) as Cassie. Also featured are: Luka Ashley Carter as Paul, Bobbi Barricella as Diana, Ronnie Bowman as Richie, Andee Buccheri as Val, Ben Cooley as Don, Mallory Cunningham as Kristine, Sarah Kozlowski as Maggie, Rina Maejima as Connie, Peej Mele as Bobby, Tracey Mellon as Sheila, Alex Polzun as Mike, Spencer Pond as Larry, Cara Rashkin as Judy, Jeremy Seiner as Al, Jared Starkey as Mark, Kayla Starr Bryan as Bebe, and Max Weinstein as Gregory.

The ensemble cast includes: Tino Ardiente, Emily Dufour, Heather Fisch, Anna Russell, Liv Ryan and Sarah Warrick.

In addition to the performances, audience members are given the opportunity to join in making music with Open Mic Nights, set for June 25 and July 16. The merriment begins after the show, and an accompanist will be provided. Open Mic Nights are BYOB, as well as free and open to the public.

“A Chorus Line” runs until July 31, with previews on June 15 and 16. Each Sunday matinee performance is followed by a talk back question and answer session between audience members and the cast. A special Tuesday matinee offering one low price on all seats is set for June 28. Due to language, “A Chorus Line” is recommended for ages 13 and up.
