Playhouse on Park continues its Theatre for Young Audiences series with the charming musical “A Year with Frog and Toad.” Based on the beloved children’s books by Arnold Lobel, with book and lyrics by Willie Reale and music by Robert Reale, this three-time Tony Award–nominated musical is directed by Kevin Cronin.

Audiences will watch as best friends Frog and Toad hop from page to stage, journeying through the seasons in a series of whimsical and heartfelt adventures. From planting gardens in spring to sledding in winter, their year is filled with laughter, discovery, and enduring lessons about friendship. Blending vaudeville-style humor with imaginative storytelling, the musical celebrates what makes each individual unique while highlighting the joy of companionship. Both nostalgic and fresh, “A Year with Frog and Toad” offers a heartfelt theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.

Public performances take place on Saturdays, May 23, May 30, and June 6 at 10 a.m. 1 p.m., and 4 p.m., and Wednesday, June 3 at 3 p.m. A sensory-friendly performance will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m. In addition to public performances, more than 5,000 students are already scheduled to attend Literature Alive field trip performances during the school day.

Recommended for children in Pre-K through Grade 5, the production offers engaging storytelling and universal themes that resonate well beyond its target age group. Tickets are priced at $25, with a $3.50 service fee, and seniors and students receive a $2.50 discount.
