Celebrate! West Hartford, the town’s annual two-day spring community festival, will include a 5K and a fun run on Sunday, June 10, 2018.

The Celebrate! West Hartford 5K and Kids Fun Run will be held Sunday, June 10, 2018.
Held in conjunction with the Town’s two-day outdoor festival, the Celebrate! West Hartford Road Races have something for runners of all ages.
The morning will start with a half-mile Kids Fun Run around Blue Back Square with medals for all finishers.
The USATF-certified 5K race, which follows, takes runners through the Webster Hill neighborhood and features a downhill finish.
Online preregistration is now open at www.CelebrateWestHartford.com, and the first 600 5K registrants are guaranteed a race shirt.
“We are proud to continue the 31-year tradition of families, friends and neighbors getting together to celebrate fitness and fun in our community. The celebration extends beyond race day – race proceeds go to scholarships for families in need to participate in Leisure Services programs year-round,” said Road Race Committee Chair Michael Alquist of the West Hartford Police Department.
“This is a race known for great prizes,” according to Event Director Linda Geisler. Prizes valued at $30, $25, and $20 are awarded respectively for first, second, and third place in all divisions of the 5K. Age divisions are 10& under, 11-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. There will also be a random drawing for all other 5K participants.
“Last year we added the 80+ age division because more folks are running longer in life – it’s a great trend! We appreciate Fleet Feet and other supporters who contribute to our outstanding array of awards. Racers often tell me they are some of the best prizes around,” said Geisler.
An improved online registration program allows registrants to easily sign up more than one runner at a time this year. Paper registrations may also be sent to Town Hall.
In addition to online registration, pre-race registration and packet pick-up will be at Fleet Feet Sports, 1003 Farmington Ave., West Hartford Center on Friday, June 8, 3-6 p.m. and Saturday, June 9, 9a.m.-noon. Runners may register and pick up their race shirt, race number, and bib tag at Fleet Feet.
Race-day registration and packet pick-up opens at 8 a.m. on June 10 in the Festival Tent at West Hartford Town Hall Parking Lot, 50 South Main St. People are encouraged to arrive with plenty of time before their race.
The Kids Fun Run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K at 9:30 a.m. Free race-day parking is available in Isham Garage, 17 Isham Rd., West Hartford.
The post-race reception and awards ceremony will also take place in the Festival Tent.
“We are grateful to our longtime supporter Whole Foods Market for continuing to provide the top-notch post-race refueling buffet,” Geisler added.

Registration for the 5K is $25 until June 1. Fees increase to $30 after June 1. The Kids Fun Run is $5.
