After both teams scored 42 points, the game came down to a sudden-death finish, with the first team to score claiming the win.
Friday was Halloween for the middle school. The game began at 1:30 p.m. with a teacher dressed as a chicken running across the field.

Immediately, the DJ began blasting pop hits and everyone began cheering. Finn Daly scored the first touchdown within the opening minutes, kicking off a celebration that continued with every score throughout the game.

Throughout the game, a DJ blasted music across the field, drawing groups of students into impromptu dance circles around the table. The sixth graders were especially enthusiastic, with one group dancing throughout the entire game.

With temperatures around 60 degrees and fall foliage on display, the afternoon had all the makings of a perfect fall game, with an electric atmosphere to match.
Teachers were still wearing their school Halloween costumes. For the school day, they had been separated by the team they teach on. One of the teams was Moana themed, another Alice in Wonderland and of course a stand alone Marie Antoinette.

The game ended around 2:30 p.m. after the call was made to turn it into a sudden-death showdown. The eighth graders broke away and scored a touchdown, with the black team immediately surrounding their teammate who ran the ball. It was so exciting the entire school wanted to join in the fun. This ended in a team pig pile and students from all grades rushing toward their peers to celebrate the momentous win.

Some students were also dressed in their Halloween costumes, one even wearing a surprisingly accurate Lorax costume as they passed the finish line.

The trot and flag football event raised money “to support Sedgwick families in need through Thanksgiving and the holiday season,” said Sedgwick Principal Karen Kukish.
Before the trot began, the DJ announced the $2,600 raised throughout the event.
With the eighth graders taking this year’s Turkey Bowl, students have now secured back-to-back wins against the faculty.
