Singer-songwriter Ernest Troost will be the featured performer at The Sounding Board on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place in Fiske Hall at The Universalist Church of Hartford, 433 Fern St., West Hartford.

Ernest Troost is a singer-songwriter and a Kerrville Folk Festival-New-Folk winner whose songwriting style combines folk and Piedmont-blues-style guitar picking with evocative stories and colorful character portrayals – as though the Carter family, Robbie Robertson, and Alfred Hitchcock wrote songs together.

Ernest grew up in Ridgefield, CT, and found a career in Hollywood writing soundtracks for TV shows and movies. He has earned five Emmy nominations for scores composed for a variety of TV series and HBO specials. He’s also a fine singer-songwriter who tries to write “songs that are little on the outside, but big on the inside.” This show will be Ernest’s Sounding Board debut.

The duo of Lindsey Fyfe & Dan Tressler will open the show.

Lindsey was raised in a musical family in Glastonbury and a frequent attendee at Sounding Board concerts during her childhood. From a young age she developed a repertoire from the Americana, bluegrass and old-time country traditions. Dan is a versatile musician who grew up in Easton, CT, and got his start as a member of his family band, the Jackson Pike Skifflers. Fyfe and Tressler met through bluegrass music circles and quickly discovered that their vocal tonality, song repertoires, and instrumentation synced naturally. They have played as a duo at cultural events throughout the region and will make their first festival appearance together at the Westport Art Festival in summer 2019.

Tickets for this Sounding Board show are $20 general admission, $16 Sounding Board members, $10 high school and full time college students, and $8 for children 12 and under with an adult.

The Sounding Board has presented folk and acoustic music concerts in the Hartford area since 1973. For more information, visit http://soundingboardcoffeehouse.org
