Saint Brigid School recently held a beautiful special Mass service in honor of one of SBS’ distinguished alum, a graduate of the class of 1978, retired West Hartford Police Sergeant, and State Representative Joseph Verrengia. After serving 25 years with the West Hartford Police Department, Verrengia shared his future plans with SBS’ students and faculty.
Always dedicated to his hometown of West Hartford, Verrengia said, “My dream of becoming a police officer started right here at Saint Brigid School. I always wanted to help people. I knew then that my career would be one of public service to others.”
Surrounded by his family, Verrengia continued, “I’m very excited about this next phase of my life. Now I have the time and opportunity to dedicate myself fully to both my community and my political aspirations.”
“Joe epitomizes the true essence of what it means to be a public servant. His selfless commitment to the people of West Hartford as both a police officer and state representative is something to be proud of and we are definitely proud of him,” stated Principal Shevon Hickey.
At the conclusion of the Mass, Verrengia was presented with the “Principal’s Award.” This award is given to alumni who have demonstrated a lifetime legacy of outstanding charitable contributions to society.”
